I live in a small town near Glasgow with my husband and teenage son. I work in Glasgow, so the daily commute gives me ample opportunities to indulge in my two favourite hobbies – reading and photography. I started a photo-a-day project this year and I love it! I thought I might get bored, but I’m getting so much enjoyment out of it, and every day I see photo opportunities. I live very close to the seashore, so I can’t resist going there after work and snapping the wonderful sunsets or the many birds that congregate along the shore. It’s so soothing and if I have a bad day at the office, I feel so much better knowing that I can go for a walk with my camera.

I am also passionate about books and love most authors – classics like William Shakespeare and the Bronte sisters, as well as contemporary authors such as Christopher Brookmyre, Iain Banks and Carl Hiaasen. There is nothing quite like curling up on the sofa under a duvet on a rainy day with a new book! I am in a book group with colleagues from work, and one of our regular meeting places is the Mitchell Library in Glasgow – one of the largest public reference libraries in Europe.
